Milkfish or "bangus" larvae from BFAR 7 - Central Bangus Hatchery (CBH) in Calape, Bohol are now being transported to Cebu to support the bangus production here in the province. The bangus larvae will be transferred to BFAR 7 - Community Based Multi-Species Hatchery in Medellin, Cebu that will monitor its growth to make fingerlings available to fish pond operators in the province. The implementation of skeleton workforce at BFAR Region 7, as anti-coronavirus measure, fails to disrupt the ongoing activities programmed for this year such as the construction of fishing boats. BFAR Region 7, through its Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division (RFTFCD), aims to build at least 80 fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) boats this year. As of this writing, the personnel assigned at Carmen, Cebu facility managed to finish constructing 24 boats. |
